Dressing for the pool may seem simple enough. Just throw on a swimsuit if you’re a girl or swim trunks if you’re a guy and you’re good to go. Unfortunately, things are not as simple as they seem in Las Vegas. If you want to partake in one of Sin City’s many epic pool parties, you’ll have to dress accordingly. Much like most of Vegas’ upscale nightclubs, these pool party destinations require patrons to dress to impress. However, you don’t want to wear the same tight-fitting dress to the pool that you would normally wear to the club. Pool parties in Las Vegas require a whole new sort of wardrobe.
The swimsuit is arguably the most important part of your pool party ensemble. First, you’ll want to choose a modern swimsuit, not an out-of-date or threadbare one-piece from the back of your closet. Just like the dresses you invest in for the nightclubs, invest in a couple nice swimsuits. You’ll be glad you did after walking into one of Vegas’ elegant pool parties. Both one-pieces and two-pieces are suitable. When shopping for swimsuits, consider fun prints or cutouts to get your suit a little more attention.
You also want to avoid wearing a swimsuit that you’re uncomfortable in. The last thing you want is your suit straps digging into your shoulders or your bottoms giving you an all-day wedgie. When at a pool party, you want to feel relaxed and confident. Choose a swimsuit that makes you feel good about yourself. While Las Vegas is known for showing a fair bit of skin, there is such a thing as showing too much. This means that pasties do not constitute as a swimsuit top. However, tiny bikinis are welcome and often encouraged by most adult pool party destinations.
While showing up in a swimsuit is a must, showing up in just a swimsuit is a major no-no. Most pool party venues, including the popular MGM Grand Wet Republic, require women to cover up their swimsuit in a sundress or wrap. The reasoning behind this rule is not only because it looks classier, but also because most pool parties require you to enter through a casino. In order to do that, you must follow the venue’s dress code. When choosing a cover-up, opt for something light and airy so that you stay cool. A flowy maxi dress or similar cover up will do.
If you’re a guy, your outfit should be fairly simple. Board shorts are a must. If you try to show up with cut-off shorts or athletic wear like gym shorts, you’ll likely get no further than the door. Along with your trendy board shorts, you’ll want to wear a t-shirt. The tee should be form-fitting and not overly baggy. You’ll also want to avoid other pieces of clothing that are frowned upon, such as sports jerseys, chains, see-through swimwear, and sneakers. Remember; once you’re inside the club you are free to keep clothing to a minimum, as long as they meet the dress code.
Finally, you’ll want to choose your footwear wisely. If you’re a girl, flip flops are not going to do. Higher end clubs require high heels. If you’re a guy, steer clear of sneakers and instead sport boat shoes or sandals. Also, never wear socks with your sandals. Also avoid wearing too many accessories. Keep it simple with dainty jewelry, such as a thin chain and a simple pair of earrings. Put on some makeup and do your hair to increase your chances of gaining entry into the club of your choice.
