Literally translated to "The Dream", Le Reve is a show filled with mysticism, acrobatics, and an abundance of water. The center stage is a 27 foot deep pool that comes in at approximately 68 feet in diameter. The theatre itself meshes perfectly with the aquatic "stage", as it almost feels more like an extension of the main production area rather than a separated entity. Due to this, guests will feel more attached to the show rather than surveyors. Much like a Cirque du Soleil production, the bulk of the performance is based around acrobatic stunts, symbolic characters, special effects lighting, and a whole lot of "oohs" and "ahhs" from the audience.
Le Reve's story, while not solid nor one that needs to be followed in any sense, takes place within the dream world of a woman introduced at the start of the show. The initial dance number concludes with the two performers parting ways, the female performer staying on stage to set the scene for the lengthy dream sequence that is to follow. The cast that makes up the unknown woman's dream in Le Reve may make it seem as if she had been drugged by her male suitor and with the assortment of detailed masks and colorful characters it very well may be a truth; but no matter the reason behind the intricate vision, it creates a spellbinding experience for those in the audience.
Where Le Reve separates itself from other Las Vegas stage productions is in the emphasis on acrobatics. While not a Cirque du Soleil production, Le Reve holds many similarities which can only help spread the popularity of this Wynn-based show. Throughout the production, cast members will find themselves amidst the audience, playfully dancing and acting about as the action on the water-based stage dies down slightly. It's not long before the on-stage acrobatics pick up again, and with an assortment of balancing acts, underwater feats, and just plain amazing displays of theatrical and acrobatic valor.
The shows production value should come as no surprise as anything associated with a Steve Wynn property is bound to be a tremendous production. With well over 2,000 wardrobes and props in place, Le Reve is an impressive display of how well a company can work together in order to ensure a performance goes off without a hitch. The fast paced nature of the production makes it so that every member of the extensive team (over 100 performers and stage hands) must be on their game for every show.
Though Le Reve's premise may leave you assuming it a show made only for women, the true nature of the production and the exciting stunts performed make it the perfect show for anybody with an interest in theatrics and amazing displays of talent and coordination. Le Reve is the perfect accent to a night on the town and makes for a thoughtful gift for any bachelorette party, bridal shower, or birthday party.
