If something like the AVN awards is a bit to taboo for your tastes, than you can take solace in knowing that January is also home of the Consumer Electronics Show. Though the convention is not open to the public, some of the biggest announcements in the world of electronics rear their heads during the CES show. Annually, companies like big wigs Microsoft and Sony gather their newest additions to the world of technology and present them to a specific crowd of consumers and the press. If you're an electronic junky, you can at least depend on January to kick off your technology filled year.

Though you may try to fight the cold with blankets and heaters, a much more entertaining solution may be at hand. Star studded events litter the month of January as numerous nightclubs in Las Vegas lure as many people out from the cold as they can. These packed events offer celebrity guest appearances, discounted beverages, and a continuous night of partying and dancing.
